THE ADVANTAGES OF THE MEL CHEMICAL WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS ARE CLEAR:
Environmentally Safe — One of the key advantages of our patented media is the permanence of the adsorption process. Waste media from arsenic remediation units has been tested by the USEPA´s Toxic Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) and found to be non hazardous and safe for disposal via landfill. The adsorption mechanism is a permanent one, locking the harmful metal ions within the micro and macro pores of the media´s structure.
Fast Kinetics — The adsorption process of our inorganic media is exceedingly quick. Tests for arsenic removal demonstrate 90% removal in the first 10 — 15 seconds contact with contaminated water. This removes the need for any long residency times, a common problem with many competing water treatment systems.
High Selectivity - The high selectivity of our media means only the desired metal ions are removed. The media can be custom synthesized to target specific contaminants. For arsenic removal the Isolux media is effective even at <10 ppb levels.
High Arsenic Capacity — 10- 13 mg/gr; exceeding analogous metal hydroxides adsorbers. The media removes over 99% of the total arsenic as arsenic III and arsenic V.
No Chemical Addition — Our system does not require any chemicals to be added to the water in order for the contaminants to be removed. Consequently, there are no effects on the taste of the water. This simplifies the systems maintenance and minimises stocks requirements of materials.
No Backwash or Activation — Unlike many other water treatment technologies for trace metal removal, the MEL systems, through careful engineering, require no backwash to redistribute the media bed. Nor do the systems require pre-activation or re-activation stages. Spent cartridges are simply exchanged for fresh ones and disposed of via landfill.
Broad pH Range — MEL´s proprietary media can operate over a broad pH range in comparison with other remediation technologies. The media will remove metal ions between pH 4.0 and 8.5.
Simple Installation — Our system is cartridge based with minimum training required for the personnel responsible. The cartridges are of manageable size and weight and simple to change over. The self contained MEL design installs easily, requires no backwash, no pressure vessel, generates no waste water and requires NO OPERATOR MEDIA CONTACT.
Simple Operation — MEL supplies a variety of delivery systems for our adsorption media including fully automated, turn-key systems.
Certification — in the United States MEL´s Isolux media is certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61
