NAME: Rosemont NJ, USA
LOCATION: Rosemont USA
DATE INSTALLED: 2009
DESCRIPTION:
Rosemont Water Company is a community water system in Rosemont, NJ, USA. The well site is in the midst of a residential community with no access to a sewer to handle any backwash stream. The well is housed in an 8 ft. by 8 ft. structure and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) require that the arsenic treatment system be fully redundant. MEL Chemicals Isolux system was tailored to the site requirements; providing a redundant system that occupies a space of only 48 in. by 60 in. The module was delivered on site and installed in approximately 4 hours.
CAPACITY:
80 gpm module arranged as a redundant (lead-lag) system so currently running at 50% capacity; the system runs
discontinuously, providing water as required. The system contains a total of 18 isolux cartridges split over 2 tanks.
TYPE OF SYSTEM:
Redundant (lead-lag) system, pH adjustment is achieved using CO2. There is a chlorination unit after the isolux arsenic removal system.
INITIAL ARSENIC LEVEL: 6 -7 ppb
TARGET ARSENIC LEVEL: <5 ppb
ACTUAL ARSENIC LEVEL: non-detectable
PERFORMANCE:
The isolux cartridges need to be changed out approximately 3-4 times a year.
OTHER INFORMATION:
This system demonstrates a very small scale Isolux installation and is very economical to run. The well supplies just 72 customers and the low arsenic input level, and lead-lag desgin, mean cartridges must be changed infrequently. The simplicity of the Isolux system means that minimal training is required to maintain the system.
Below is an article, written for Water Online, describing the Rosemont installation in more detail along with a summary of the case study.
