Welcome to the website for MEL Chemicals' Isolux Technology

MEL Chemicals has developed the ISOLUX media; an environmentally safe, highly efficient, inorganic adsorption media for the removal of heavy metal ions, including arsenic, from water systems. We are committed through our ISOLUX and MELSORB technology to providing safe, affordable water of high purity throughout the world whilst protecting the environment

Through the use of patented technology MEL Chemicals have a developed a range of zirconium based materials which offer excellent adsorption properties and high selectivity in the removal of various heavy metal ions. Using tailored chemistry we have been able to engineer the zirconium adsorbents into a range of amorphous and crystalline forms, with a broad particle size distribution. This allows the zirconium materials to exhibit superior kinetics versus standard ion exchange resins and other technologies.

Metal ions removed by the patented Isolux technology include:

  • Arsenic — both III and V species
  • Cadmium
  • Lead
  • Antimony
  • Chromium

The removal is not via chemical reaction; it is an adsorption process, hence several different metal ion species can be removed with high selectivity. If you would like to know if our media could remove the ion of concern to you, please contact us. MEL Chemicals has several local representatives within the USA, please refer to the Contact section for details.

For drinking water applications MEL supplies Isolux systems.

For waste and industrial water applications MEL supplies Melsorb systems.

MEL Chemicals is committed through our Isolux and MELSorb technologies to providing the treatment industry with practical, scalable, highly effective solutions that minimize infrastructure, investment and overhead requirements, while meeting or exceeding industry regulations.
